RV 10.90 : Purusha Suktham : Narayana Rshih

RV_10.090.03.2{17} pādo.asyaviśvā bhūtāni tripādasyāmṛtaṃ divi

pādo.asyaviśvā bhūtāni : asya pAdah vi’svAbhUtAni : One fourth of Him is all the beings of the universe.

tripādasyāmṛtaṃ divi : asya tripAd  amRtam divi : Three fourths of Him is the eternal (immortal) heaven.

I think this means that the living beings (which are mortal) comprise one fourth of the universe and the immortal heavens compromise three fourths of the purusha.

  1. The statement as a whole means that he is beyond visual, mental, intellectual, interpretive or inferential comprehension. The first part of the sentence says that the sum of all of our comprehension is barely one-fourth. The second part of the sentence implies that the vast majority of the Lord can not be comprehended.

In physics also there is a theory — that the universe if filled with 75% dark energy and the 25% is filled with visual energy.
