vEda pAThas’Ala: for girls : Savita Acharya

This lady has learned Sanskrit and Vedas for many years and teaches Vedas,  Yoga and patriotic songs to young girls… The Video clip commentary is in Telugu. It is a must watch video…. She follows the steps of Swami Dayananda Saraswati of Arya Samaj. She explains that aarya means children of arya and that arya means swami or I’svara. Thus all humans, are children of God and thus all are Aryans and everyone has every right to learn the Vedas. Her chanting sounds really nice.

She says that all restrictions for Vedic Education came in the middle ages….

She studied Sanskrit in Kasi for 14 years. She teaches the 4000 sutras of Panini’s Astadhyayi as well as nirukta. She teaches Vedic Vyakaranam as well as Loukika Vyakaranam. She teaches the 16 samskaras so that the girls can become purohits as well. She teaches music as well as yajnas. Entry age is between and 8 to 11. Course duration is 14 years.

(BTW, Savita does not mention prachaya among the Vedic Swaras, so her system of chanting differs from what my Guru is teaching me. She also believes that Vedic education should not be co-ed and that the guru and students should be of the same gender. My guru, says that for those with atma drishti, gender is immaterial, it is the focus on the brahman that is important.)

  1. She teaches the 14000 sutras of Panini’s Astadhyayi. There are only 4000 sutras in Panini’s astadhyayi. ;)

  4. A nice video. Also would like to say that what yourVeda Guru says that a true Brahmgyaani guru does not see any gender is absoluteley right. A true Brahmagyaani guru does mot see a body. Their’s is a Atma Drishti. Atma Pashyanti Atma. Atma does not discriminate between genders. Only Atma is tattva. Body is impermanent. When one looks at ‘deh’ i.e. body, one will be judgemental, Gunas and doshas will come to the fore. But Atma is Guna Rahit. There are no attributes/qualities in Atma.
Your site is an excellent work. It is very enlightening to visit your web site.
